To send new subscribers directly from Amped into Attentive, you will need

  1. An API Key from Attentive specific to Amped

  2. A new "Sign-up Unit" connected to your new API from Attentive (Attentive will have to create this for you)

1) Generating a new API Key in Attentive

To generate an API Key you will need create a new Custom app in Attentive.

To create a new custom app in Attentive:

  1. Click + Create App in the top-right corner.

  2. Enter the name "Amped" for your app in the App name field.

  3. Enter your email address in the Contact email field.

  4. Edit the Permissions for the Subscribers API and Custom Attributes to be Write

    ‍

  5. Click Create. You will then see your new API Key

  6. Copy the API Key - CAUTION! This is the only time you will be able to copy this API key.

2) Setting up a new Attentive Sign-up Unit

Important - this new Sign-up Unit must be created by Attentive and connected to your API. This requires Attentive to manually create the Sign-up Unit AND you will have to show them a screenshot of the legal disclaimer copy on the SMS step of your Amped campaign to confirm compliance before Attentive will generate your new Sign-up Unit.

You'll need to email [email protected] or your Attentive rep with the information below and a screenshot the SMS Step showing the correct SMS consent copy.

Here's the information Attentive will need to setup your "API Sign Up Unit":

  • Use case: Adding new subscribers to Attentive

  • Capture method: through an input field with appropriate compliance language.

  • Marketing or transactional: Marketing

  • Journey to connect new sign-up unit to: Connect to default welcome journey (UNLESS YOU WANT A NEW ONE CREATED)

  • Name for new sign-up source: Amped.io API Phone Input

Once you have your new Sign-up Unit created you will need the ID of the Sign-up unit.

This can be found in the Sign-up Units tab of the Attentive platform in the ID column for any API sign-up method.

Assigning "Journey" and "Offer" to you Sign-up Unit in Attentive

Once your Sign-up Unit has been created, be sure to assign it to your SMS Journey you would like new subscribers to be placed into.

If you are using Offers in Attentive (likely if you are offering a discount in your welcome text) be sure to connect your new Sign Up Unit to your Offer in Attentive:

3) Connect Attentive to Amped

Once Attentive has created your Sign-up Unit ID, head back to Amped and go to Integrations -> Attentive and click on Connect.

Then you'll need your Attentive API Key along with your Sign-up Unit ID

Adding in your Attentive API Key and Sign-up Unit ID

Once you've added your Attentive API Key, Sign-up Unit ID, and a name for your Sign-up Unit. Hit continue.

β€‹πŸŽ‰ That's it - Attentive and Amped are connected.

This will be your default Attentive list and all phone numbers captured will now flow into this Sign-up Unit. You don't have to edit any campaigns, phone numbers captured will start going to Attentive automatically now.

Changing your Sign-up Unit for different Campaigns

If you would like to use different Sign-up Units for different Campaigns you can do this on the Campaign level under the button actions in the design:
