How to connect Klaviyo to Amped

To integrate Amped with Klaviyo, it's essential to generate and add a new Full Access Private API Key from Klaviyo and paste it into Amped and select a default list for Amped to send int. Here's exactly how:

  1. Navigate to API Keys in Klaviyo: Log into your Klaviyo account and go to Account -> Settings -> API Keys to start the process of generating a new key.

  2. Create a New Private API Key: Click on the option to create a new Private API Key specifically for Amped integration.

  3. Create a Full Access Key: Name your key "Amped" for easy identification, select "Full Access Key," and click on "Create" to finalize.

  4. Copy Your Private API Key: Once your key is created, copy the Private API Key, which will resemble "pk_4mp3dc8d8aeadxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx," for use in Amped.

  5. Inside of Amped, go to the Klaviyo Integration: In your Amped account, navigate to Integrations -> Klaviyo and hit Connect.

Navigate to Amped Integrations and then Connect Klaviyo

  6. Paste in your API Key & Pick a default List: Enter the newly created Klaviyo API Key into the designated field within the Amped Klaviyo Integration page.

๐ŸŽ‰ You did it! All data collected will now go into Klaviyo

You'll now see in the editor, on the button actions where you capture data, that data is flowing to Klaviyo, this is where you can customize where data is sent on a Campaign level.

๐Ÿ“ก What information Amped sends to Klaviyo

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Default Profile Properties added by Amped

Amped sets $source = Amped.

NOTE if you are using other apps that set $source, $source may not remain Amped after it has already been set once by Amped.

๐Ÿท Setting Profile Properties in Klaviyo from Amped

If you have a campaign that captures preference information you can capture that input from the following methods

  • On a button in Amped, you can use the Button Action of "Set user property" and this will be sent to Klaviyo as a Profile Property

  • Any custom input fields will be sent to Klaviyo as Profile Properties

  • Checkbox responses (input name and value) will be sent to Klaviyo when the Button on the Step uses the Capture Data action.

  • Radio Button responses (input name and value) will be sent to Klaviyo when the Button on the Step uses the Capture Data action.

๐Ÿ‘ Consent Considerations

It's important that you are clear about what the visitor is signing up for and especially with SMS opt-ins. When subscribing via SMS be sure to include extra consent copy (example below).
โ€‹

โœ”๏ธ Enabling Single Opt-in for Email Capture

When using Amped for email capture we recommend using Single opt-in.

To enable single opt-in, go to your List -> Settings -> and scroll down to Opt-in Process.

๐Ÿ‘ฎ Legal Consent for SMS

If you are using a full form input (email input and sms phone number input field) on both mobile and desktop devices, we recommend using a single opt-in list along with very clear consent copy.
โ€‹

Klaviyo's recommended SMS consent language:

By submitting this form and signing up via text, you consent to receive marketing text messages (such as promotion codes and cart reminders) from [Company name at the number provided, including messages sent by autodialer. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying STOP or clicking the unsubscribe link (where available) in one of our messages. ๐Ÿ›Ÿ Troubleshooting the Amped Klaviyo Integration

๐Ÿ’ก Check if your list in Klaviyo is single or double opt-in

Confirm that you are using a single opt-in list. If you are not, please know that contacts will not become subscribed until they finish double opting in.

๐Ÿ’ก Only use a Full Access API Key from Klaviyo

Make sure that you're using a full access API key from Klaviyo so that Amped can add all appropriate information and get this set up perfectly for you.

๐Ÿ’ก If Campaigns need to send to different lists - do this on the Variation level

If you need to send into a different list than the default list that you set up when you turned on the integration, be sure to check inside the variation (in the editor) for the button actions on both email and phone number step to make sure that you're sending subscribers into the correct lists.

๐Ÿ’ก Getting SMS Subscribers into a different list

If you're wanting to send SMS subscribers into a different list, be sure to navigate to the phone capture step and on the button action for the form, make sure that you've configured the capture data step on the Klaviyo settings to send to your SMS subscriber list that you would like.

๐Ÿ’ก $source Issues

If you're relying on $source to track opt-ins, be aware that the source field will often get overridden throughout the customer's journey. Amped may add in the subscriber with the source of Amped, but later, Shopify or other apps you're using might override the source to something else.

๐Ÿ’ก SMS Consent requires an Active SMS Plan in Klaviyo

If you're collecting phone numbers and don't see SMS consent added, and you are using single opt-in, one issue could be that if you don't have an active SMS plan on in Klaviyo, those phone numbers are not able to be set to a subscribed status.
